Frédéric L’Epée – Solo
Art rock – Contemporary – Experimental
Known for his work with Shylock, Philharmonie and Yang, Frédéric L’Épée crafts in his solo projects a music at the intersection of contemporary progressive forms, modal minimalism and sonic experimentation. His solo guitar work deepens this trajectory whether through ‘natural’ pieces, without effects or loops, as for classical guitar, or complex architectures inspired by minimalist orchestral music. His last solo guitar album, Contre courant is released in February 2026 on Cuneiform Records.

A longstanding voice in French progressive music, Frédéric L’Épée has crafted an aesthetic combining formal rigor, timbral exploration and contemporary techniques.

His performances blend evolving patterns, pure solo pieces and rich textures, producing an immersive and architectured musical journey.
“It is quite unlike anything I’ve heard before. It is very cinematic. The music tells its own story in a remarkably compelling way. Monsieur L’Épée is obviously a master of his craft.” (Progarchy)
“The song feels almost healing, as if you are undergoing a process, and that within only 7 minutes.” (Michel Stolk – Background Magazine)
Enjoying the new album from ex-Shylock guitar legend, Frédéric L’Épée. Great melodies & a real sense of light & shade across an album that touches upon heavy-duty prog & tunes so light & graceful they’ll carry your heart away… (Sid Smith – Prog Magazine)
